1 After we finished the Johns Lake Loop, we continued on the Going-to-the Sun Road to our next destination, Many Glacier. Após a trilha do Johns Lake, continuamos na rodovia Going-to-the-Sun até a nossa próxima parada: Many Glacier.

Glacier National Park gets its name from the several glaciers in the park. Presently there are 25 named glacier and all shrinking in size. There are also over 130 named lakes and over 700 miles of hiking trails. The park encompasses 1,583 square miles, and together with Canada's Waterton Lakes National Park it is known as the Waterton-Glacier International Peace Park, a World Heritage Site since 1995. Large mammals such as the grizzly, moose, and mountain goat, as well as rare or endangered species like the wolverine and Canadian lynx, inhabit the park. O Parque Nacional de Glacier recebe este nome devido às várias geleiras no parque. Atualmente existem 25 geleiras e todas estão encolhendo de tamanho. Há também mais de 130 lagos e mais de 1.125 quilômetros de trilhas. O parque abrange 4.100 quilômetros quadrados, e em conjunto com o Parque Nacional dos Lagos de Waterton do Canadá, é conhecido como o Parque Internacional da Paz Waterton-Glacier, um Patrimônio da Humanidade desde 1995. Grandes mamíferos, como o urso pardo, alces, e cabra da montanha, bem como espécies raras ou ameaçadas de extinção, como o wolverine e do lince canadense, habitam o parque.
